Privacy Policy

Your family's privacy

Chummi is built for families. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We have no ads and we do not sell personal data.

Last updated: June 23, 2026

1. Who this policy covers

This Privacy Policy applies to the Chummi mobile app, the chummi.io website, and related services (together, “Chummi,” “we,” or “us”). Chummi is a parent-approved, invite-only voice and messaging service for children and their approved friends. Parents create and control the account; children use it under parental supervision.

2. Information we collect

  • Parent account information. Name, email address, and authentication details used to create and secure the account.
  • Child profile information. A display name or nickname and limited profile details provided by the parent. We ask parents to avoid sharing more than necessary.
  • Content. Voice notes and messages exchanged between approved contacts, stored to deliver the service.
  • Approved connections. The list of friends a parent has approved for their child.
  • Device and usage data. App version, device type, and basic diagnostic and crash information used to keep Chummi working reliably.

3. Children's privacy

Protecting children is the core of Chummi. We require verifiable parental consent before a child uses the service, and a parent controls the account, approves every contact, and can review or delete their child's information at any time. We collect from children only what is needed to provide Chummi, and we never require a child to disclose more than is reasonably necessary to participate. We do not condition a child's use of Chummi on disclosing more information than necessary, and we do not use children's information for advertising.

Parents may review their child's personal information, ask us to delete it, and refuse further collection or use by contacting us at support@chummi.io.

4. How we use information

  • To provide and operate Chummi's voice and messaging features.
  • To enforce parent approvals and keep accounts secure.
  • To respond to support requests and communicate about the service.
  • To diagnose problems, prevent abuse, and improve reliability.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

5. How we share information

We do not sell personal data, and we do not show third-party ads. We share information only with service providers who help us operate Chummi (such as hosting and infrastructure) under contracts that require them to protect it, or when required by law or to protect the safety of a child or other person.

6. Data retention

We keep information for as long as the account is active or as needed to provide the service. When a parent deletes a child's profile or the account, we delete or de-identify the associated personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it to meet legal obligations.

7. Security

We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your family's information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we work continuously to safeguard your data.

8. Your choices and rights

Parents can access, correct, or delete account and child information from within the app or by contacting us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws. To exercise any of these rights, email support@chummi.io.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Chummi evolves. If we make material changes, we will notify parents through the app or by email. The “Last updated” date above reflects the current version.
