How can we help?

Quick answers to the questions families ask most. Can't find what you need? We're one email away.

What is Chummi?
Chummi is a parent-approved, invite-only voice and messaging app for kids and their real friends. It works like a walkie-talkie — kids press to talk and send quick voice notes — but every connection is approved by a parent first.
How do parent approvals work?
Before a child can talk to anyone, a parent reviews and approves that friend. Nothing happens until you say yes, and you can remove an approved friend at any time.
Can strangers contact my child?
No. Chummi is invite-only with no public profiles, no search, and no feeds. There is no way for someone you haven't approved to find or message your child.
How do I get started?
Download the Chummi app, create a parent account, and set up your child's profile. From there you'll approve your child's first friends and you're ready to go. (Chummi is currently rolling out — join the waitlist on our home page to be notified.)
How do I add or remove a friend?
Open Settings, go to your child's profile, and use Manage Friends to approve a new connection or remove an existing one. Changes take effect immediately.
Is my family's data private?
Yes. Chummi has no ads and does not sell personal data. See our Privacy Policy for the full details on what we collect and how it's protected.
